How to go about showing my dogs?

I am wanting start showing dogs. I am wanting dog show in the central Illinois area, maybe a little ways out of it, but not far. My options for show dogs are a pug (very laid back, fawn coloring like a regular pug, 3 years old, over weight, and a people lover), and a chihuahua (will be a year old in December, a little shy, 3 pounds, and darkish cream colored). I am not sure what one to choose, I am thinking about using both, but I'm not sure. Both the dogs have great potential. I am not in this sport for the money, I just am in direr need of a hobby. Is want to know how to show them, how to train them to become show dogs, whether or not I should use both, or just one of them, and anything else I might need to know about showing them? I don't have a whole lot of money, due to the fact that my parents are funding this. I am 14 years old and I love animals and have loved them all my life, now I want to have a hobby with them. These dogs are both males. I was also wondering if it matters what the dogs are registered with? The pug is AKC, but the chihuahua is CKC. I was not sure about this. I am not looking to go into this too soon. I am doing all the research I can. I am really interested in this hobby. They are loving dogs and part of our family.
