Singer/Song writer -- who am I thinking of?

Dan Fogelberg died way too young in 2007. Whether or not he's the one you're looking for, his music is great. I believe he came from Illinois. Even before he hit the mainstream his music was excellent - deep and meaningful. And this didn't change as he gained more popularity. I miss him like an old friend.
