URGENT: How long should I wait for an injured baby deer's mother to come get it?

Earlier today my dog (she's kinda small, but she's part Jack-Russel, so she loves chasing things) found a white-tailed deer fawn. It looks like it's only a few weeks old. I don't think my dog hurt it badly, but she definitely chased it a little ways from where its mom left it. So it's not in its original spot, and I'm worried the mother is going to abandon it. It's been a few hours now. How long should I wait for the mother to come back until I start taking care of it? How DO I take care of it? How long can baby deer survive without their mothers? And how would I go about catching it without putting it into shock?
