Be kind but firm with your children. They need to know the rules, but they also need to know that they are loved by their parents no matter what. They don't need punishment, they need to learn how to handle situations appropriately. Why set up kids for failure so they can know failure? They will fail on their own, so set them up for success and keep the self esteem high, even when they fail. They will be able to handle failure better that way.

My Siberean Husky killed a fawn? What now?

I have a Siberean husky who killed a fawn last year so we started keeping a closer eye on her. I was out yesterday watering my plants and let her out of her dog run; she wasn't out of my sight 10 minutes when she caught yet another fawn. I know it's their breed but is there any type of trainning I can do to prevent her from doing this? I thought she learnt her lesson last year! Trying to repair some damage thirty years after the fact (sorry about the length)?

In 1981, my eight-year-old brother Andrew was kidnapped by a family acquaintance and held hostage for three weeks. During this time, he was routinely beaten and sexually abused by his captor. He was also burned with boiling water and forced to listen while his captor made crank calls to our family pretending to be the police, telling us that Andrew had been found. He was rescued after three weeks. It had taken that long to track him down because his captor had them moving around all the time. It's strange to me how a period of time as short as three weeks could destroy so many lives, and leave so many still broken after thirty years. Andrew's body recovered from the trauma, but his mind never healed. The Andrew that came back to us was not the Andrew we had previously known. Before the trauma, Andrew was very social and outgoing. We were only two years apart and always very close. I never had any other brothers or sisters. He was a sweet little boy with a good sense of humor, and, being an older sister, I teased him constantly. Not meanly, but in a playful way. He is the most ticklish person to ever walk planet Earth, and as a little kid he loved it when I tickled his feet. We wrestled and play-fought and just enjoyed being with each other. When he came back, everything changed. Andrew had always been close to me and my parents also, but after he came back he acted like he couldn't even stand the sight of us. I could never understand that. I thought he should be happy to be back with us, people who loved him. He told me when he was older that I was a stranger to him and that there was a gulf separating him from everyone else. He was resentful that other people hadn't been where he had been. When he first came back and started beng like that, I tried so hard to bring him back. I tickle-attacked him like I used to and even though he squirmed and laughed just the same, he didn't enjoy it at all. He wouldn't wrestle either, and didn't seem to want to be around me at all. He did well in school and never had issues with drugs and alcohol, he's been successful in life and has a wife and kids, but for the past thirty years you can tell that something in him is just gone. Something inside him died all those years ago and, despite this, I still hope so hard that I can bring him back. I still see him and our children play together, but that confidence is gone. He underwent counseling as a child and teen but it didn't help him and he doesn't see anyone anymore. I encourage him to see someone about his depression and the pain he still feels but he says it wouldn't make any difference. I'm sorry this post is so long but I just don't know what to do to help him. He's physically healthy and financially stable, but I want to be close to him again and my parents want the same. I agree, although I love fantasy novels, I love biographies and autobiographies too. There are so many good autobiographies out there, it just depends on what kind you're looking for. I love dramatic rock star biographies, so I would recommend "The Long Hard Road Out Of Hell" by Marilyn Manson and "neon angel" by cherie currie. However, if that is not what you are looking for, there are many more books to choose from.

Im going into 8th grade and i'm applying to go to Bergen Technical High School or Teterboro Technical High School. I'm going towards Bergen though but I heard that it's very hard to get in. Do they base you on your grades you get? I am a "A" and "B" student but i have to try my very hardest. Once in a while i will get C's but i bring my grade up. That's usually in spanish or Social Studies. I know you have to take a test in January and you will know like in April if you got accepted. Is the test hard? Okay, So I have this problem where I fall for my guy friend... my guy friend with a girlfriend. Now I'm not a total brat so I don't go out to break them up and instead sit on the side lines pining my life away pretending I fully support them together. Can LASIK eye surgery improve your vision if.....?

My mom's job required her to be on the computer all day, her eyesight started to diminish so she got Lasik surgery. Her vision was perfect for a while but after 5 years it started to decline. Now she has to wear glasses to see far away objects, which she is a little ticked about. Hope this helps.

I find both of these options really appealing. I love the touch screen interface of the new Nook, and the NookStudy I think will be handy when I go to college. Girlfriend broke up with me I need help?

Me and this girl have known eachother since about freshman year of highschool (now going into senior) and we never hung out really just an occational talk on myspace or facebook, and recently I actually went to hang out with her and instantly it was like love at first sight, I fell in love with this girl and we were together ever since... until last night. I really loved this girl like no ones business, no one could explain how good I felt about her and how much I loved her. Everyday I would make the 24 minute drive to her house and again to get home just to be able to see her, I would take her out to eat and to the movies at least once a week, i've bought her clothes and such and we were so happy. She does get some anger build up sometimes like shes on her period but it isnt ever really that bad I always knew how to make her smile just after she would spark up. We were so close hanging out as much as possible, probably too much now that I look at it. But lately since it's summer I would pick her up and we would go to the falls near by or we would go to the beach or she would come here and we would hang out with friends, go to movies or dinner and just hang out at her house. Do you think Richard Rahl/Cypher is a Gary Stu? In the first three books, I thought he was the s#!+, but my opinion of him has changed a lot since then. I'm currently reading The Pillars of Creation, so I haven't finished the series yet and he may have this big flaw I haven't read about yet... but my Gary Stu senses have been tingling lately. He was made out to be humble, kind, honest, strong, intelligent, handsome, an awesome swordsman, and then all of a sudden he finds out he's a wizard too! Not only is he a wizard, he's a wizard with both additive and subtractive powers, pretty much the potential to be the strongest being in the world! Not only that, women are constantly fawning over him! Though, I should also add that he seems to have lost his modesty somewhat. I actually kind of think he is arrogant in the later books. In one of the books he was preaching about morality throughout nearly the entire thing - I seriously got the feeling that I was reading John Galt's speech all over again. Anyway... I don't mean to bash the series or anything - I still enjoy reading the books to an extent - but does anyone have the same feelings as me? How to go about showing my dogs?

I am wanting start showing dogs. I am wanting dog show in the central Illinois area, maybe a little ways out of it, but not far. My options for show dogs are a pug (very laid back, fawn coloring like a regular pug, 3 years old, over weight, and a people lover), and a chihuahua (will be a year old in December, a little shy, 3 pounds, and darkish cream colored). Grandparents favoring one child?

I am a half Japanese ( on my father's side) and part American and part Hispanic woman married to a white man. I am average height and have somewhat dark skin, blue eyes, and dark, curly hair. No line of sight for DishNetwork, will Directv work?

We had Dish Network out 3 times to move our dish - twice I warned the technician when spring and summer get here, the dish will be blocked and twice he told me, no it's okay. Finally, got my money back from Dish and went with Direct TV - who said, let's put it on the roof and I never had another problem. I think it's worth it to have them out - both our receiver's, remotes, and dish were much better quality with Direct TV.

What to do since my baby fawns won't eat?

my family and i bought two baby fawns two days ago, at 7 days old. so today they're nine days old. they're both girls and one is bigger than the other. they were both fine the day they got here and were settling to the new environment but yesterday morning the larger fawn didn't want to eat for her first feeding, second, third or fourth. the other just gobbles it all down in a minute. today their feeding is supposed to go up another half oz but the larger one still won't eat. her digestive system seems to be working regularly so I don't know what the case is... help?

Backpacking vs Luxury?

Hey! So I'm going on a trip pretty soon to London and Paris, it's going to be hopefully amazing, I'm planning on traveling in my style which is always to stay at nice hotels and be pampered and have really luxurious amenities and eat at the absolute coolest and best places and really live it up as much as I can, I mean hey, you only have one life to live, and I've always traveled this way, always, I've never really ever done any of the backpacking thing, and honestly the idea repulses me a little, I want to take everything in and be comfortable and feel like I'm at peace, and yet a little part of me wonder's, how is it like to backpack though? Like through europe, i mean for the price of a holiday in luxury places you could backpack through all of Europe, yet wouldn't it be uncomfortable? And I just want to hear some opinions, why and why not to backpack and if you like the idea of staying in more luxurious hotels and being pampered alongside your holiday, or if you prefer getting dirty and staying in hostels? What are some arguments and some like opinions on both, I mean it's not really like you see more or less of somewhere just by how you travel, right? And I always see a lot of backpackers always criticizing people who travel luxuriously for not taking in the culture and real life, who says you don't see the culture and life in a luxury hotel? You still go to the same sights, you still get the same place, you just spend it at different places is really all, so why do backpackers bash us so much? I don't think I would ever backlash backpackers, everyone has their own thing, and obviously if they are so concerned about culture they shouldn't really be criticizing people for where they stay, I'm also sure you can get to stay in culture by having a holiday in a historical luxury hotel with hundreds of years of history, vs a hostel... but I've always just wanted to hear opinions, so please go ahead and tell me where you stand! My baby deer (fawn) has a lump on her throat?

Grandparent's treatment of my children?

I am a half Japanese ( on my father's side) and part American and part Hispanic woman married to a white man. I am average height and have somewhat dark skin, blue eyes, and dark, curly hair. My husband is somewhat pale with blond hair and yellow gold eyes. We have two beautiful twin daughters, one of which has lighter skin, blonde hair, and blue eyes, and the other who has my husband's eyes, darker skin, and my hair. They are both babies still and we love them both very much. My husband I have noticed recently that both my husband's mother and my own, fawn over the less ethnic looking child of our fraternal twin daughters. They say things like "Oh, she's so pretty," and "Her skin/eyes/hair is lovely." They also ignore my other daughter. Both my husband and have spoken to each of them and they have not listened at all. This disturbs both my husband and I deeply and we're considering revoking the right of both of them to see my children if this behavior continues. Is this just? URGENT: How long should I wait for an injured baby deer's mother to come get it?

Earlier today my dog (she's kinda small, but she's part Jack-Russel, so she loves chasing things) found a white-tailed deer fawn. It looks like it's only a few weeks old. I don't think my dog hurt it badly, but she definitely chased it a little ways from where its mom left it. So it's not in its original spot, and I'm worried the mother is going to abandon it. It's been a few hours now. How long should I wait for the mother to come back until I start taking care of it? How DO I take care of it? How long can baby deer survive without their mothers? I recently got my 1st pair of contact lenses but when I put them in my eyes were really blurry. I had them in for like 30minutes and nothing changed and I can see better without them. I told my optician and she ordered new ones but they're the same and I wore them for longer. I had them in at school and they were so bad that I couldn't see what the teacher was writing on the board. Does this normally happen or is the prescription wrong? I'm long sighted if that helps.

Dock length should not affect the puppies ability to sit properly. The puppy has the same mobility in the docked tail as it would in a full length tail. If the puppy is unable to move the tail out of the way to sit properly the the problem is with the tail carriage or the development of the muscles that allow her to move the tail and not with the length of the dock (sounds like she has the standard longer Boxer dock)

How to go about showing my dogs?

I am wanting start showing dogs. I am wanting dog show in the central Illinois area, maybe a little ways out of it, but not far. My options for show dogs are a pug (very laid back, fawn coloring like a regular pug, 3 years old, over weight, and a people lover), and a chihuahua (will be a year old in December, a little shy, 3 pounds, and darkish cream colored). The rain that came in the afternoon left puddles on the dark stones of the streets that reflected the yellow glow of the street lamps that were actually lit for once. I also learned something interesting, in Spring, flowers are hung from the lamp posts. All of this compaired to the grubby gray London I was introduced to made me think the city itself had bipolar disorder. I latched my hand onto the door handle and pushed open the door. Which Nook should I get?

I'm really looking into getting a Nook from Barnes and Noble. I know I definitely want a Nook, not a Kindle. I was able to find facilities all over Atlanta and the surrounding area, and one small school in Macon. It looks like no matter what you do, you'll have to take a fair drive to get to a flight school. There is a reasonably large airport (class D) in Albany, so even though there's nothing listed on line, you should definitely go to the airport and ask around at the FBO, Eagles of America. I Need Help Naming a Fine Painting of Myself Standing Behind a Penguin. PLZ HELP!?

Picture this... I'm in Guam on the beach with my penguin friend Gaper, who's wearing a hawaiin button up shirt, he is leaning forward with a big smile on his face wearing those big cop sunglasses. Im standing closely behind holding a bottle of suntan lotion in my left hand and my other hand is above my head posing the hangloose sign. There's a parasailor in front of the sunset, in the background. Its a gloriuos sight. Mind u the painting is life size 8x4.5ft and Im going to be auctioning it off at the foodbank fundfaiser in my home town. I've been working on it since last December, using the plotting technique where u use a fine paintbrush and instead of stroking the brush on the canvas you make a whole bunch if dots to create the image. I just finished this morning 20 mins after 4. I've had several ideas for naming it bouncing around in my head, but i just can't find words that could ever express my masterpiece. The things that stick out most about me in the painting is im only wearing rasta color sandals and i have my dark full body tan on display for all to see on our secluded beach. Trying to cope with something that happened thirty years ago (and bring my family closer together again)?

In 1981, my eight-year-old brother Andrew was kidnapped by a family acquaintance and held hostage for three weeks. During this time, he was routinely beaten and sexually abused by his captor. He was also burned with boiling water and forced to listen while his captor made crank calls to our family pretending to be the police, telling us that Andrew had been found. He was rescued after three weeks. It had taken that long to track him down because his captor had them moving around all the time. It's strange to me how a period of time as short as three weeks could destroy so many lives, and leave so many still broken after thirty years. Andrew's body recovered from the trauma, but his mind never healed. The Andrew that came back to us was not the Andrew we had previously known. Before the trauma, Andrew was very social and outgoing. We were only two years apart and always very close. I never had any other brothers or sisters. He was a sweet little boy with a good sense of humor, and, being an older sister, I teased him constantly. Not meanly, but in a playful way. He is the most ticklish person to ever walk planet Earth, and as a little kid he loved it when I tickled his feet. We wrestled and play-fought and just enjoyed being with each other. When he came back, everything changed. Andrew had always been close to me and my parents also, but after he came back he acted like he couldn't even stand the sight of us. I could never understand that. I thought he should be happy to be back with us, people who loved him. He told me when he was older that I was a stranger to him and that there was a gulf separating him from everyone else. He was resentful that other people hadn't been where he had been. When he first came back and started beng like that, I tried so hard to bring him back. I tickle-attacked him like I used to and even though he squirmed and laughed just the same, he didn't enjoy it at all. He wouldn't wrestle either, and didn't seem to want to be around me at all. He did well in school and never had issues with drugs and alcohol, he's been successful in life and has a wife and kids, but for the past thirty years you can tell that something in him is just gone. Something inside him died all those years ago and, despite this, I still hope so hard that I can bring him back. I still see him and our children play together, but that confidence is gone. He underwent counseling as a child and teen but it didn't help him and he doesn't see anyone anymore. I encourage him to see someone about his depression and the pain he still feels but he says it wouldn't make any difference. I'm sorry this post is so long but I just don't know what to do to help him. He's physically healthy and financially stable, but I want to be close to him again and my parents want the same. Is there anything I can do to bring him back, to make us all just a little closer?

I was at my girlfriends house over the weekend and her step dad told me this really weird story about when he was in gulf breeze Florida. He told me about this sighting of a little alien man thingy with big ears that apparently was on unsolved mysteries. What to do with a newborn fawn, its mother died?

A fawn and its mother used to hang out in our backyard often so we came to the point where we could even identify them around our area. One day we saw the mother get killed by a car running into her and now the fawn still comes into our yard, crying for its mother and I'm assuming its hungry. We don't know the exact number of weeks, just that its a little over a foot tall and we want to feed it without getting our scent because we're afraid predators might come after it. Animal Services doesn't really exist around here because they go missing/die all the time. Thank you lovelies :)

I'm in love. I know it. I met this guy at work and omg, i just want to talk to him everyday, I want to get to know him more and just be with him. Hes tall and has really bushy hair, not many would find him attractive, I askeda few of my friends, but I find him unbelievably sexy. We work together and I just met him.
